Your dentist or nurse will come to get you from our well appointed waiting room stocked with current magazines and daily newspaper.
After a brief hello, we'll inspect your teeth, your gums and soft tissues. Radiographs or x-rays will normally be taken to look for decay hidden under the tooth surface or between the teeth. Soft tissue will be examined for any abnormalities which may need to be referred for specialist treatment.
Teeth and fillings are counted and charted to your computer records. A numeric record of the gums is taken so we can compare between each subsequent visit. Relevant medical history will be discussed, for example, pregnancy, diabetes, medication etc.
Diabetes - Diabetics have a higher chance of gum inflammation (gingivitis) and gum disease (periodontal disease) because diabetics' gums are more sensitive to plaque. After the examination, we will, if necessary, provide you with a written treatment plan detailing the costs and various options.
