Bleaching is undertaken using 10% carbamide peroxide in a mouthguard worn overnight over a period of around 3 weeks. Existing crowns, bridges, veneers and white fillings will not lighten with bleaching and this can lead to an obvious contrast between the fillings and the lightened natural teeth.
This might mean that they need to be replaced but we will discuss the issues with you during your whitening consultation.
Bleaching usually lasts for up to three years and can be topped up quite quickly.

We don't recommend other whitening methods you might see elsewhere such as power bleaching, plasma light or laser light bleaching. All of these systems require the patient to go home afterwards with a home bleaching kit in any event and it is this time spent at home that actually bleaches the teeth.
